Araruama is a county located on the lakes region, north of Rio de Janeiro's State.
It is located at 22 ° 52'22 "south latitude and 42 º 20'35" west longitude. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statics on 2008, the population was something about 110,000 inhabitants.
It extends it's area over 365,4 km² (141,8 mi²), which plains and lakes are the most remarkable geographic aspects, including the famous Araruama Lake and Juturnaíba Lagoon - this one situated between Araruama and Silva Jardim countys, 12,5 km (7 miles) from another city, São Vicente de Paula.
